School football: CBA, Shaker ranked
Christian Brothers Academy (9-2) and Shaker (8-2) are ranked No. 17 and No. 21, respectively, on the final list of Class AA football rankings released this week by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
CBA beat Shaker in the Section II championship game, 13-8, before losing to Monroe-Woodbury in the state quarterfinals, 38-25. Daily Gazette All-Area first-teammer Elliott Croskey rushed for over 100 yards in every game for the Brothers.
Aquinas (13-0) is ranked No. 1 on the final poll, followed by Abraham Lincoln (13-0) and St. Anthony’s (11-1).
Aquinas beat Monroe-Woodbury for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association title, 48-13. Abraham Lincoln defeated Tottenville for the Public School Athletic League championship, 28-27. St. Anthony’s topped Chaminade for the Catholic High School Football League crown, 35-0.
Guilderland (6-3), Saratoga Springs (7-2) and Shenendehowa (6-3) made the state honorable mention list.
