School field hockey: Plainsmen to sign

By James Schiltz
Wednesday, December 4, 2013

Shenendehowa field hockey standouts Anna Bottino, Erin Buckley and Caroline Cady will sign their collegiate letters of intent next Thursday (Dec. 12) in the high school’s East library.

The senior trio played a significant role in Shenendehowa’s run to Section II, regional and state Class A championships during the fall season.

Bottino scored the deciding goal in a 1-on-1 overtime shootout when the Lady Plainsmen edged Sachem East, 3-2, for the New York title, and joined Buckley on the all-tournament team.

Bottino, Buckley and Cady each earned Suburban Council first-team all-star status. Bottino will sign with the University at Albany, Buckley will ink with Fairfield University, and Cady will make her commitment to Quinnipiac University official.

At Thursday’s signing ceremony, Ian Grey (Providence College/lacrosse), Alexis Porter (McKendree University/wrestling) and Justin Yurchak (Wake Forest University/baseball) will also put their collegiate commitments down on paper.
