School Notes: Goldstock to SU

Niskayuna High School goalkeeper Asa Goldstock has given Syracuse University women’s lacrosse coach Gary Gait a verbal commitment.

Goldstock started the last two seasons for the Silver Warriors, helping them reach the Section II semifinals both times, and has impressed at several showcase camps.

“She’s excited. We’re excited,” said L.J. Goldstock, Asa’s dad.

The 15-year-old netminder will be starting her sophomore year in September. Guilderland junior-to-be Cara Quimby, who plays attack, committed to Syracuse this past season.

The current Syracuse roster includes Niskayuna graduate Kayla Treanor. The midfielder had a record-setting freshman season last spring and was selected an All-American.

Asa Goldstock’s cousin, Niskayuna graduate and lacrosse star Luke Goldstock, will begin his freshman year at North Carolina next month.
