Christian Brothers Academy lacrosse standout Dan Sipperly, who last spring moved to the top of the Section II career points list, has made a verbal commitment to Bryant College in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
The attackman moved to the top of Section II's points list when he generated three goals and two assists in CBA's final game of the 2009 season, an 8-7 double-overtime playoff loss to Shaker.
The five points gave Sipperly 343 in his four-year career at Greenwich and CBA, and topped the 340 points produced by 2005 Niskayuna graduate Mark Bryan. Greg Rogowski, a 2005 graduate of CBA, finished his career with 335 points.
Sipperly shows 178 goals and 165 assists for his career after scoring 54 times last season with 45 assists. As a sophomore at CBA, he totaled 51 goals and 44 assists, and as a freshman and eighth-grader at Greenwich, he delivered 73 goals and 76 assists.
The two-time Big 10 first-team all-star has helped CBA win two straight league championships (the Brothers have won six straight in all). The All-American nominee was recruited by numerous colleges, and entertained offers from West Point, Syracuse, Rutgers, Ohio State, Princeton and Siena before deciding to play for the Bulldogs and coach Mike Pressler.
Sipperly is in line to break both the Section II career goal and assist records. Aaron Lupo of Schenectady (2008 graduate) is the Section II record holder for career goals with 200, and Bryan holds the Section II
career assist mark with 183.
Bryant played its first season at the Division I level in 2009 and put together a 10-5 record.
