Wrestling season opens
Tuesday, December 1, 2009

The Section II wrestling opens in earnest tonight, with the Suburban Council, Foothills Council and Big 10 all scheduled to begin.

Defending SC, Class A and Section II Division I champion Shenendehowa opens at Averill Park; Ballston Spa visits Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake; Columbia hosts Colonie; and Saratoga goes to Guilderland in the Suburban.

Queensbury opens defense of its Foothills title at Scotia-Glenville, which has a new coach in Mike Prendergast; Hudson Falls visits Johnstown and Glens Falls is at Broadalbin-Perth.

Albany hosts CBA in the Big 10.

The Colonial Council and Wasaren League start their dual league seasons on Thursday, leading into the first weekend of the season that is loaded with tournaments.

Heading the Saturday schedule are the Ballston Spa Duals, the Watervliet Duals and the Mohonasen tournament. Voorheesville and Berne-Knox-Westerlo are also hosting dual meet tourneys. Queensbury and Averill Park open the two-day Clyde Cole Tournament in Oxford on Friday; Guilderland goes to the Valley Duals in Ilion; Burnt Hills and Amsterdam travel to the tough Anderson event in Syracuse;, Warrensburg is in the Saranac Early Bird event; and Cobleskill-Richmondville goes to its tradational first-weekend at Susquehanna Valley.
