ABC ruins finish to Indianapolis 500

ABC found a great way to ruin a fantastic finish to the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday.

As the race emerged from a red flag following clean up of debris on the track after a crash, ABC inexplicably went to a split screen. The right side showed viewers the race as Ryan Hunter-Reay and Helio Castroneves battled for the lead, with Marco Andretti desperately trying to catch them.

On the left side, we saw the reaction's of Hunter-Reay's wife and Castroneves' girlfriend.

By doing that, ABC took the emphasis off the race. The reactions became a distraction. Race fans, both devout and casual, want to see the exciting finish and not the wife and girlfriend. ABC went to full screen during the final lap, but the magic was lost.

This is the Indianapolis 500. You treat this differently than any other IndyCar race. Get the reaction of the wife and girlfriend after if you want. But, honestly, I don't think race fans care how the wife and girlfriend react.
