Union's Bodie, Ikkala named to academic all-district team

Union seniors Mat Bodie and Cole Ikkala were named to the Capital One Academic All-District I Men's At-Large Team for NCAA Division I by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Friday.

Bodie and Ikkala will be on the ballot for Capital One Academic All-America Team voting, with winners to be announced the first week of June.

Bodie and Ikkala helped lead the Dutchmen to the NCAA tittle this season. Bodie, the team captain, had eight goals and 31 assists. He is the Dutchmen's all-time leading scorer among defenseman with 124 points. An economics major, Bodie has a 3.35 cumulative grade-point average after recording a perfect 4.00 last trimester.

Ikkala was named a Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American and received the Charles N. Morrison Scholarship Award for academic achievement at the team's awards banquet. Ikkala scored two goals this season, both against Cornell. A managerial economics major, Ikkala has a cumulative GPA of 3.82 and has recorded 4.0's the last two trimesters.
