Quinnipiac pulls out of Frozen Holiday Classic
Union won't see Quinnipiac in the inaugural Frozen Holiday Classic at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn., this December.
The New Haven Register reported that the Bobcats pulled out of the event after realizing they had too many games scheduled. UMass-Lowell will take Quinnipiac's place. Sacred Heart and UConn are the other teams in the event Dec. 27-28.
"There was a lot of miscommunication on our end," Quinnipiac athletic director Jack McDonald told Register reporter Chip Malafronte. "We misread our situation. We had other commitments and weren't going to be able to pull it off. It's our fault."
McDonald sand Quinnipiac overlooked a two-year, four-game contract with St. Cloud State that begins this season. The Bobcats travel to St. Cloud State this year for a two-game series. The Bobcats will host the Huskies in 2015-16.
