Union recruit Shier helps Toronto reach Dudley Hewitt Cup final

Union hockey recruit Kevin Shier had a goal and two assists Friday to help the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots to a 6-0 victory over Fort Frances in the Dudley Hewitt Cup semifinals.

The Patriots will take on the Wellington Dukes in the championship game on Saturday. The winner advances to the Royal Bank Cup, which determines the champion of Canadian Junior "A" hockey.

Shier assisted on two first-period goals by Niko Kovachis. Shier scored with 7:22 left in the second. He has three goals and three assists in four games.
