FINAL: Hatch, Novak lead Union past Vermont, 5-2

Max Novak and Matt Hatch scored two goals each, leading top-ranked Union to a 5-2 victory over Vermont in the NCAA hockey tournament East Regional semifinal in Bridgeport, Conn.

Hatch scored the first and last goals of the game. He had a short-hansded goal in the first, and finished it off with an empty-net goal late in the third.

Novak's goals came on the power play in the first and second periods.

Mat Bodie also scored for Union.

Brendan Bradley and Mario Puskarich had the Vermont goals.

Union will face the winner of Providence-Quinnipiac in Saturday in the championship game at 3 p.m.
