Colgate wins in double OT, will face Union in ECACH title game

Tyson Spink scored 52 seconds into the second overtime Friday, lifting Colgate to a 3-2 win over Quinnipiac in their ECAC Hockey tournament semifinal Friday at 1980 Rink-Herb Brooks Arena.

The Raiders will face Union in Saturday's championship game at 7:30 p.m. It's Colgate's first title game appearance since 1990, when they beat RPI to win the championship.

The Bobcats took a 2-0 lead on second-period goals by Connor Jones and Sam Anas. Andrew Black scored late in the second for Colgate.

The Raiders sent the game into overtime when, with goalie Charlie Finn pulled for an extra attacker, Kyle Baun scored with 56 seconds left in regulation.

Colgate won the season series from Union, 1-0-1. The Raiders took a 5-3 victory Nov. 8 at Messa Rink. The teams skated to a 5-5 tie Feb. 15 at Starr Rink.

It will be the third postseason meeting between the two schools. Colgate, which was the 12th seed in 2011, ousted top-seeded Union in three games in the quarterfinals. The following year, Union beat Colgate in the semifinals.
