ESPN announces NCAA hockey tournament broadcast schedule

The ESPN networks will have the NCAA hockey tournament covered for the fans.

Coverage starts Sunday at noon with the NCAA Hockey tournament selection show on ESPNU. John Buccigross, who will call the East Regional from Bridgeport, Conn. and the Frozen Four in Philadelphia, will host the show along with analyst Dave Starman.

In a unique, online collaboration, ESPN and the NCAA will announce the four No. 1 seeds and which region they will play in one-hour prior to the show.

At 11 a.m., @NCAAIceHockey will tweet out – in alphabetical order – the four No. 1 seeds. Moments later, after receiving the official bracket from the NCAA, Buccigross will take to his Twitter account (@Buccigross) to announce the numerical order of the No. 1 seeds and the region in which they will be located in.

Buccigross will be paired with Barry Melrose and Quint Kessenich in Bridgeport. The semifinals March 28 will be on ESPNU at 2 and 5:30 p.m. The final March 29 is at 3 p.m. on ESPN2.

Joe Beninati and Darren Eliot will call the Midwest Regional in Cincinnati March 28-29. The first semifinal is 4:30 p.m. on ESPN3, and the second semifinal is 8 p.m. on ESPNU. The final is 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU.

Joe Davis and Billy Jaffe will be at the Northeast Regional March 29-30 in Worcester, Mass. The semifinals are 4 p.m. on ESPNU and 7:30 p.m. on ESPN3. The final is 5 p.m. on ESPNU.

The West Regional in St. Paul, Minn., will be March 29-30 and called by Clay Matvick and Sean Ritchlin. The semifinals are 5:30 p.m. on ESPN2 and 9 p.m. on ESPNU. The final is 7:30 p.m. on ESPNU.

The Frozen Four is in Philadelphia. ESPN2 will televise the semifinals at 5 and 8:30 p.m. April 10. The final is on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. April 12. Buccigross, Melrose and Kessenich are on the call.
