Union will face Cornell in ECAC Hockey tournament semifinal

Top-seeded Union will face Cornell in the ECAC Hockey tournament semifinal at 4 p.m. Friday in Lake Placid.

Brian Ferlin scored at 12:32 of sudden-death overtime Sunday to lift the fourth-seeded Big Red to a 1-0 win over fifth-seeded Clarkson in the deciding game of their ECACH quarterfinal series Sunday at Lynah Rink.

The Dutchmen won the season series, taking a 3-0 win Nov. 9 at Messa Rink and a 4-1 victory Feb. 14 at Lynah.

It will be the third postseason meeting between the two teams. Cornell swept the 2008 quarterfinal series at Messa. The Big Red defeated the Dutchmen, 3-0, in the 2010 championship game at the Times Union Center.
