Union's Gostisbehere wins first phase of Hobey Baker Award fan balloting

Phase one of the Hobey Baker Award fan balloting concluded Sunday night, and Union junior defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere is the winner.

Gostisbehere, a Philadelphia Flyers prospect, garnered over 24,000 votes, according to Hobey spokesman Wally Shaver.

St. Cloud State junior goalie Ryan Faragher was second, and Boston College junior forward Johnny Gaudreau came in third.

The top 10 finalists will be announced next Thursday. That is also when the second phase of fan balloting commences.

The Hobey Hat Trick finalists will be named April 3. The award will be presented April 11 at the Frozen Four in Philadelphia.
