Union players heading to NHL development camps
Now that the NHL draft is over, it's time for NHL teams to take a look at their draft picks, as well as the free agents they have signed and selected invited players at development camps next month.
Union will have five players going. Defenseman Jeff Taylor, the Clifton Park native who was selected in the seventh round of the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, will be going to that camp.
Goalie and Niskayuna native Colin Stevens will be going to two camps -- the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers. Center Mike Vecchione will join Stevens in Florida, according to Dutchmen coach Rick Bennett.
Bennett also said center Eli Lichtenwald is headed to the Anaheim Ducks camp. Left wing Daniel Ciampini will be visiting the Vancouver Canucks.
Bennett thought center Max Novak was going to be in the Rangers' camp. But a roster that was Tweeted Saturday night didn't have Novak on it.
Former Dutchmen defenseman Mat Bodie will be in the Rangers' camp, as well as former RPI forward Ryan Haggerty. Both players were signed as free agents by the Rangers.
RPI defenseman Luke Curadi and forward Matt Neal will also be in the Rangers' camp.
