UAlbany lacrosse standout Lyle Thompson earns ESPY Awards nomination

I'm not one to go crazy over ESPN's ESPY Awards. But it should be noted that UAlbany lacrosse standout Lyle Thompson is a nominee for Best Male College Athlete.

Thompson shared the Tewaaraton Award with his brother, Miles, first to ever share the award and the first Native Americans to win it. Lyle had 51 goals and 77 assists this season.

He will be up against Boston College hockey forward Johnny Gaudreau, Creighton basketball's Doug McDermott, Penn State wrestler David Taylor and Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston.

The ESPY Awards take place Wednesday, July 16 at 9 p.m. on ESPN.
