Sunday's 2-2 World Cup draw between the United States and Portugal was exciting, and it attracted a lot of viewers.

The game had an average of 24.7 million viewers on ESPN and Univision, the Nielsen Company said Monday.

ESPN averaged 18.2 million viewers. The cable network said it is the most-watched non-football event in the network's history. The telecast hit a peak of nearly 23 million viewers between 7:30-8 p.m.

Univision averages 6.5 million viewers. That is a record for a game involving the U.S ever on the Spanish-language channel.
