Some ratings news for the NHL and NBA playoffs

-- Sunday night’s Western Conference final Game 7 between the Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks on NBCSN averaged 4.137 million viewers, according to The Nielsen Company.

That made it the the most-watched non-Stanley Cup final game, beating the 4.049 million who watched Game 7 of the 1996 Eastern Conference final between the Florida Panthers and Pittsburgh Penguins on ESPN. It was also the most-watched NHL game ever on NBCSN, beating Game 3 of last year's Cup final between the Blackhawks and Boston Bruins (4.001 million). It was the most-watched non-Olympic program ever on NBCSN, surpassing the 4.100 million for the USA-Russia men’s hockey game during the Sochi Olympics in February.

-- ESPN's coverage of the NBA Eastern Conference final averaged 7,234,000 viewers over the six games, making it second-most watched conference finals ever on the cable network. It was 48 percent from the network’s coverage of last year's Western Conference final last year. The Eastern Conference Finals averaged a 4.5 rating, up 45 percent from last year (3.1).
