2014 Stanley Cup final prediction
Well, I must say, I haven't had a good spring picking the Stanley Cup playoffs.
My conference finals selections bit the dust. I had the Montreal Canadiens beating the New York Rangers in the East final in six, and the Chicago Blackhawks taking out the Los Angeles Kings in the West in six, as well.
Is there a consolation tournament the Canadiens and Blackhawks can play in? No? Oh well.
But maybe my struggles in the first three rounds will be erased by correctly picking the Cup winner for the first time since I've started posting my picks in 2008. I can never seem to get it right.
So, who do I go with? The Rangers have been rolling since overcoming a 3-1 deficit in the East semifinal against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Kings have won all three of their series in seven games, all on the road. That is very impressive. It also says that home-ice advantage isn't want it used to be.
This is an intriguing series. I have been going back and forth on who I want to choose. My wife asked me the other day who I was picking, and I said Rangers in six, but since I hadn't posted it, I reserved the right to change it. She disagreed.
Well, I am changing it.
The pick: Rangers in 7.
I hope I didn't jinx them.
