ValleyCats third baseman Davis moves up

The Houston Astros promoted third baseman J.D. Davis from the Tri-City ValleyCats to the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Class A Midwest League on Tuesday.

Davis batted .279 in 30 games and the led the 'Cats with five homers. He was second on the team in RBI (20) and doubles (seven).

To replace Davis, the Astros sent infielder Juan Santana from the Greeneville Astros of the Appalachian League (Rookie class). Santana batted .368 for in 21 games for Greeneviile with two homers and 16 RBI.
