Union takes 3-1 lead over Harvard after two

Goals by Kevin Sullivan and Matt Hatch have given third-ranked Union a 3-1 lead over Harvard after two periods of play in their ECAC Hockey game Friday at Messa Rink.

Sullivan snapped a 1-1 tie when his backhander from along the goal line to the left of the net deflected off of Crimson defenseman Dan Ford and past goalie Steven Michalek at 6:14.

Hatch made it a two-goal lead when he poked a loose puck out of a scramble in front of Michalek and into the net with 3:56 left in the period.

Alexander Kerfoot gave Harvard a 1-0 lead early in the first period. Mike Vecchione, who assisted on Hatch's goal, tied it late in the first.
