Gostisbehere injured in Union's 3-0 win over Princeton

Union had a nice bounce-back win Saturday, but it may have come with a hefty price.

Standout junior defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere was injured in the first period of the fourth-ranked Dutchmen's 3-0 ECAC Hockey victory over Princeton at Hobey Baker Rink in Princeton, N.J.

Gostisbehere, the Philadelphia Flyers' third-round pick in the 2012 NHL draft, suffered a lower-body injury when he was checked into the boards by Tigers right winger Ryan Siiro. He tried to skate the next shift, but couldn't make it. He missed the final two periods.
Gostisbehere has six goals and 10 assists in 20 games this season. In 97 career games, he has 19 goals and 45 assists.

"We'll just have to wait and see how he feels tomorrow, and go from there," Union coach Rick Bennett said.

Junior goalie and Niskayuna native Colin Stevens made 33 saves for his third shutout of the season, and second against the Tigers.

Max Novak had a goal and an assist. Michael Pontarelli and Daniel Carr also scored. The goal moved Carr within two points of surpassing Adam Presizniuk as the Dutchmen's all-time leading scorer at the Division I level.
