BCS title game gets 14.8 rating across ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNEWS
The ESPN "BCS Megacast" presentation of Monday's BCS National Championship game, won by Florida State over Auburn, 34-31, got 26,061,000 viewers and a 14.8 rating across ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNEWS.
Television ratings for the additional five platforms offering coverage are not available, according to ESPN.
The ESPN telecast of the matchup is the third largest audience of any program in cable television history, averaging 25,572,000 viewers and a 14.4 Fast National rating.
The only two larger audiences in cable television history are ESPN's coverage of the 2011 and 2013 BCS National Championships: 27,316,000 viewers for Auburn's 22-19 victory over Oregon in 2011 and 26'380,000 viewers for the Alabama's 42-14 win over Notre Dame in 2013.
ESPN's coverage of the five BCS bowl games averaged 16,549,000 viewers and a 9.4 rating, up 9 percent (vs. 15,131,000) and 7 percent (vs. 8.8), respectively, over last year's BCS games.
