Union's Carr, Stevens, Lichtenwald win ECAC Hockey December honors
It was a clean sweep of the ECAC Hockey monthly awards for Union.
Senior left winger Daniel Carr, junior goalie Colin Stevens and freshman center Eli Lichtenwald were honored by the ECACH for their play in December.
Carr was named player of the month. He had two goals and six assists in five games. He missed the Dec. 1 game against Penn State because of a middle-body injury.
Stevens, the Niskayuna native, posted a 3-0-1 record in five games. He had a shutout against Princeton Dec. 6, made a career-high 37 saves in a Dec. 11 win over Dartmouth and stopped 35 shots in a 3-3 tie against top-ranked St. Cloud State Dec. 14. Stevens earned back-to-back ECACH goalie of the week honors in December.
Lichtenwald had four goals and three assists in six games, leading all rookies in scoring nationally during the month. He finished the month with a five-game point scoring streak. He had two goals and an assist in the Dutchmen's 6-4 win over Quinnipiac Dec. 7.
Union (12-3-3) went 5-0-1 in December, and are ranked fifth in the USCHO.com/NCAA hockey poll. The Dutchmen, who lead the ECACH with an 8-1 record, return to action Jan. 10 at Quinnipiac.
