Union's Ciampini named ECAC Hockey player of the week
Union junior left winger Daniel Ciampini was named ECAC Hockey player of the week on Tuesday.
Ciampini had two goals, one of them short-handed, and an assist in Friday's 5-0 win over Clarkson. He added an assist in Saturday's 6-2 victory over St. Lawrence that gave the Dutchmen the top seed for the ECACH tournament.
Ciampini is on a seven-game point-scoring streak.
The other winners were a pair of goalies. Cornell's Andy Iles won goalie of the week. The senior netminder made 40 saves in Friday’s win over Quinnipiac. He had 24 saves in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Princeton.
Colgate's Charlie Finn earned rookie of the week. He made 24 saves in Friday's 6-1 win over Princeton, and stopped 31 shots in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Quinnipiac that gave the Raiders a first-round bye.
