Canada-U.S. men's hockey earns record 2.7 rating for NBCSN

Friday's Winter Olympics men's hockey semifinal game between Canada and the United States earned NBCSN a 2.7 rating and an 8 share, NBC and The Nielsen Company said Saturday.

It is the highest-rated hockey game ever on NBCSN, topping the 2.6 the U.S.-Russia game got last Saturday.

Canada's 1-0 win averaged 3.9 million viewers (slightly below the 4.1 million for U.S.-Russia, which benefited from more group viewing on the weekend) leading NBCSN to its best-ever weekday daytime viewership (1.7 million viewers from 6 a.m.-3 p.m.). Viewership for the game peaked at 4.6 million from 1:30-2 p.m.
