RPI's Higgs, Union's Ikkala named Lowe's Senior CLASS Award finalists

RPI forward Brock Higgs and Union forward Cole Ikkala are two of the 10 finalists for the the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, it was announced Wednesday.

Higgs and Ikkala were among the 20 players college hockey nominated for the award in November.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence -– community, classroom, character and competition.

Higgs and Ikkala are two of six ECAC Hockey players who are finalists. The others are St. Lawrence's Greg Carey, Cornell's Andy Iles, Brown's Dennis Robertson and Clarkson's Mark Zarbo.

The other finalists are Denver's Sam Brittain, Ferris State's Scott Czarnowczan, Canisius's Kyle Gibbons and Nebraska-Omaha's Ryan Walters.

Fan voting is underway and runs through March 31. To vote, click here. The winner will be announced at the Frozen Four in Philadelphia April 12-14.
