Former RPI goalie Mathias Lange made 34 saves to help Austria beat Norway, 3-1, Sunday in the Winter Olympics men's hockey tournament in Sochi, Russia.

Lange got his first start of the tournament. He replaced Bernhard Starkbaum in the third period of Austria's 6-0 loss to Canada on Friday and stopped all 15 shots he faced.

In Sunday's game, Lange made 17 saves in the first period while Austria took a 2-0 lead. The only goal he allowed was to Per-Age Skroder in the second period.

Austria finished 1-2 in the preliminary round. It will face Slovenia in Tuesday's qualification round.
