CBS earns 6.0 for final round of PGA Championship
No Tiger, no problem for the final-round rating from Sunday's PGA Championship.
According to Nielsen, CBS earned a 6.0 rating and a 13 share. That is up 36 percent from last year’s 4.4/10.
Thanks to a rain delay, the coverage spilled over into prime time. And there was plenty of drama over the final few holes. Rory McIlroy beat the darkness and the rest of the field to win the title. The final-round rating peaked with a 9.2/17 from 8-8:30 p.m.
Sunday's rating marks the highest-rated final round in five years, when CBS got a 7.5/17. That year Y.E. Yang won with Tiger Woods finishing second. Woods missed the cut in this year's event.
Saturday's rating/share for the third round was 3.2/8, up 7 percent from last year’s 3.0/8.
