Boyd goes to Quad Cities; Martin joins ValleyCats
The Houston Astros promoted center fielder Bobby Boyd from the New York-Penn League's Tri-City ValleyCats to the Midwest League's Quad Cities River Bandits on Sunday.
To replace Boyd, the Astros moved center fielder Jason Martin from the Greeneville Astros of the Rookie-class Appalachian League to the 'Cats.
Boyd batted .333 and led the team with 30 runs and 13 stolen bases. On Saturday, Boyd was named to the NYPL All-Star Game.
Martin, the Astros’ eighth-round selection in last year’s Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, batted .274 with 21 RBI in 42 games with Greeneville. He had an impressive debut for the 'Cats, going 3-for-5 with two runs cored in the team's 4-2 victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades.
