Four ValleyCats named to NYPL All-Star Game

Four Tri-City ValleyCats were selected for the New York-Penn League All-Star Game, the league announced Saturday.

The 'Cats who will represent the North Division against the South Division are catcher Jamie Ritchie, infielder Nick Tanielu, outfielder Bobby Boyd and pitcher Ryan Thompson.

Entering Saturday, Ritchie was batting .407 with 20 RBI in 29 games. Tanielu was hitting .315 with two homers and 33 RBI in 44 games. Boyd had a .340 average with nine RBI and 13 stolen bases in 41 games. Thompson, the closer, appeared in 16 games was 2-1 with a 2.65 ERA and seven saves.

The NYPL All-Star Game will be played Aug. 19 in Brooklyn.
