Colonie to play Taney in Friday's LLWS Mid-Atlantic Regional semifinal

Colonie beat Taney Youth Baseball Association of Philadelphia to clinch a berth in the Little League World Series Mid-Atlantic Regional semifinals on Tuesday.

If Colonie wants to get to Sunday's championship game, it must beat TYBA again.

Colonie will face TYBA in the first semifinal game Friday at 11 a.m. The game will be televised by ESPN.

Colonie, which went 2-2 in pool play, rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat TYBA, 5-3. Jakon Lemperle hit a game-tying three-run homer in the third inning, then hit a tiebreaking RBI triple in the fifth. He later scored on a wild pitch.

The other semifinal pits Toms River (N.J.) against Newark National (Del.) at 3 p.m. on ESPN. The championship game is 6 p.m. Sunday on ESPN2.
