Lemperle helps Colonie advance to LLWS Mid-Atlantic Regional semifinals

Jakob Lemperle tied the game with a homer in the third inning, and then tripled in the go-ahead run in the fifth, lifting Colonie to a 5-3 victory over Taney Youth Baseball Association of Philadelphia in the Little League World Series Mid-Atlantic Regional Tuesday at Breen Field in Bristol, Conn.

The win advances Colonie (2-2) to Friday’s semifinals. Their opponent won’t be known until the conclusion of pool play Wednesday. ESPN will televise the semifinals at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Colonie trailed, 3-0, heading into the bottom of the third. One-out walks to Pauly Montesanti and Zane Nelsen put runners at first and second for Lemperle, who drilled his homer over the right-field fence.
In the fifth, Nelsen singled with one out. Lemperle then tripled to center field to score Nelsen. Lemperle scored on a wild pitch.

Nelsen pitched 5 2/3 innings to get the win. Lemperle got the final out for the save.
