Union trio earn ECAC Hockey honors
NCAA hockey-champion Union swept the final ECAC Hockey monthly awards of the season.
Center Max Novak was named player of the month. The junior recorded five game-winning goals in eight games for the Dutchmen during the March/April span. Novak scored the game-winner in the NCAA championship game against Minnesota and received ESPN "SportsCenter's" No. 1 Play of the Day honors on two occasions. He was the Most Outstanding Player of the East Regional.
Niskayuna native Colin Stevens was named goalie of the month. Stevens went 8-0-0, going 6-0-0 against nationally-ranked teams during the months of March and April. He earned ECACH goalie of the month three times in March, Stevens was named to three all-tournament teams.
Freshman center Mike Vecchione was named rookie of the month. He had five goals and six assists during nine games in March/April. tops among rookies in the country. Vecchione had goals in both games at the Frozen Four and finished with a plus/minus rating of +13 in nine games.
