Frozen Four end of 1st: Boston College leads Union, 1-0

Johnny Gaudreau scored 2:08 into the first period Thursday, giving Boston College a 1-0 lead over Union in the NCAA hockey Frozen Four semifinal at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Kevin Hayes drove to the net and got a shot off. Goalie Colin Stevens made the save, but Gaudreau was there to put home the rebound.

It's the first time since Feb. 15 that Union allowed the first goal of the game.

Union is 0-for-2 on the power play. BC is 0-for-1.

The Dutchmen had an 11-9 shot advantage.
