RPI is ranked 15th, and two-time defending ECAC Hockey tournament champion Union is 16th in the USCHO.com/NCAA top-20 college hockey preseason poll, which was announced Monday.

The Engineers, who finished second in the ECACH last season and was picked by the conference's media to win the league this season, earned 266 points.

The Dutchmen, who finished fourth in the regular season and reached the NCAA hockey tournament East Regional final, earned 258 points. Union was picked 12th in last Monday's USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine top-15 preseason poll.

Last year's Frozen Four finalists are the only other ECACH teams in the poll. Defending NCAA champion Yale is sixth, getting eight first-place votes and 644 points. Runner-up and defending ECACH regular-season champion Quinnipiac is 10th, getting one first-place vote and 419 points.

UMass-Lowell of Hockey East is the top-ranked team in the poll. The River Hawks earned 19 of 45 first-place votes and 844 points.
