Canucks send ex-Union center Welsh to Utica Comets (AHL)

The Vancouver Canucks announced on Monday that they have sent former Union College center Jeremy Welsh to their AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets.

The move comes a day after the Canucks acquired Welsh in a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes. Welsh signed with the Hurricanes hours after the Dutchmen lost to Ferris State in the 2012 NCAA hockey Frozen Four semifinals.

Welsh and the Comets visit the Albany Devils on Oct. 12 at the Times Union Center at 5:05 p.m. in the Devils' home opener. It will be Welsh's first visit to the TU Center as a pro.

The Dutchmen are also home that day, hosting Bowling Green at 7:30 p.m.
