Ex-Union defenseman Forgaard signs with Las Vegas (ECHL)
Another former Union hockey player has headed back to North America to play pro hockey.
Defenseman Ryan Forgaard has signed a contract with the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers.
Forgaard, along with former Dutchmen defenseman Shawn Stuart, had originally signed with the Drakkars Hockey Club in the French Elite League on June 10.
"France just wasn't the right fit for me," Forgaard said.
He is the second Union player from last season's team to leave Europe. Greg Coburn left the Tampereen Ilves of the Finnish Elite League and is in the Phoenix Coyotes' training camp.
Forgaard joins former Union defenseman Nolan Julseth-White on the team.
Forgaard played in 110 career games for the Dutchmen, collecting nine assists. Last season, he had two assists in 31 games.
