Union's Gostisbehere named ECAC Hockey player of the week
Union junior defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere was named ECAC Hockey player of the week on Tuesday.
Gostisbehere helped the Dutchmen to a sweep of Route 7 rival and 10th-ranked RPI over the weekend by collecting four points. He had two assists in Friday's 4-3 win at Messa Rink. He sealed Saturday's 4-1 triumph at Houston Field House by scoring two late third-period goals.
Gostisbehere had 14 shots on goal in the weekend series.
The other weekly winners were Quinnipiac's Michael Garteig, who won goalie of the week for the third time this season; and Colgate freshman center Emilio Audi, who was named rookie of the week.
Garteig made 31 saves in Quinnipiac's 3-2 win over Harvard on Friday, and stopped 19 shots in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Dartmouth.
Audi drove the Raiders to a North Country sweep. He had an assist in Friday's 5-3 victory at St. Lawrence, and had a goal and an assist in Saturday's 4-3 come-from-behind win at Clarkson. Audi's goal 2:42 into the third period triggered a three-goal period that helped the Raiders erase a 3-1 deficit.
