Blackhawks-Red Wings get 2.0 rating for NBC Sports
NBC Sports coverage of Saturday night's Game 5 in the NHL Stanley Cup Western Conference Semifinals between the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks earned a 2.0 overnight rating, the network announced Sunday.
The Blackhawks' 4-1 win that kept them alive in the series the best delivery for a conference semifinal game on NBC in seven years.
It was the first prime-time conference semifinal game shown by the network.
The game was up 25 percent from the comparable afternoon conference semifinal game last year on Saturday, May 5, when a game between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals earned a 1.6.
Detroit delivered a 14.7, the highest local rating ever in the market for a conference semifinal game on NBC. Chicago also drew its best conference semifinal on NBC rating with an 11.4.
NBC will have a conference final game on Saturday night.
The rating for NBC Sports Network's coverage of the Boston Bruins' series-clinching 3-1 win over the New York Rangers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Saturday is not known yet. However, Boston drew a 17.9 rating, the highest local rating ever in the market for conference semifinal game on NBCSN. The game was up 54 percent from the Bruins' 2011 conference semifinal exclusive average on NBCSN in the market (11.6).
New York drew a 3.6 rating.
