Union goalie Grosenick named to Capital One Academic All-District first team

Union junior goalie Troy Grosenick was named to the Capital One Academic All-District first team on Friday.

The honor is voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America District 1 members.

It's the second straight year Grosenick was honored. He was a third-team member last year.

Grosenick is a three-time ECAC Hockey All-Academic team member and two-time ECACH Student-Athlete of the Year finalist.

He signed with the San Jose Sharks after the Dutchmen's season ended in the NCAA hockey tournament East Regional final. Grosenick was 17-10-5 with a 2.12 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage in 34 games this season. He led Union to a seven-game winning streak late in the season (6-0-0, 1.03 GAA, .966 save percentage), helping the team to its second straight ECACH tournament title and third straight NCAA tournament bid.
