Quinnipiac rolling over Union, 5-0, after two
The rout is on.
Jordan Samuels-Thomas and Kellen Jones scored second-period goals to give Quinnipiac a commanding 5-0 lead over Union after 40 minutes of play in the NCAA hockey tournament East Regional final on Sunday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
Already leading, 3-0, on a first-period hat trick my Matthew Peca, Samuels-Thomas scored on a five-minute major power play at 7:22 of the second. The Bobcats got the power play when Matt Wilkins hit Zach Currie in the head from behind in the Quinnipiac right-wing corner.
Jones made it a five-goal cushion with 8:18 left when he split the defense and lifted a backhander over a diving Troy Grosenick.
