Union has 2-0 lead over St. Lawrence after one (updates with Vasaturo injury)
Charlie Vasaturo and Matt Hatch scored early in the first period, giving Union a 2-0 lead over St. Lawrence after 20 minutes of play in their ECAC Hockey game at Messa Rink.
Vasaturo scored 45 seconds into the game. Josh Jooris won a faceoff in the left circle and drew it back to Vasaturo at the left point. The sophomore defenseman fired a shot that deflected off of a Saints defender and past goalie Matt Weninger.
Vasaturo left the game in the first with a lower-body injury. His return is doubtful.
Hatch scored at 4:05. He got a cross-ice feed from Matt Wilkins from the left wing. The pass was slightly behind Hatch at the top of the right circle, but he settled it down and fired a twisted wrister over Weninger's right shoulder.
Union outshot St. Lawrence, 17-4, in a dominating period.
