Chu, ex-Union women's assistant coach, named to U.S. Women's Olympic hockey team

Former Union College women's hockey team assistant coach Julie Chu was named to the U.S. Women's Olympic hockey squad on Monday.

It will be Chu's fourth appearance on the team. In 15 career Olympic games. Chu has four goals and 11 assists.

At 31 years old, Chu is the oldest player on the team. She was a standout player at Harvard, collecting 88 goals and 196 assists in 129 games from 2002 to 2007.

Three current ECAC Hockey players, all from Harvard, made the Olympic team. They are defensemen Michelle Picard and Josephine Pucci, and forward Lyndsey Fry.

Former Harvard forward Kate Buesser is also on the team.

The U.S. coach is Harvard's Katey Stone.

The 2014 Winter Olympics will take place Feb. 7-23 in Sochi, Russia.
