Stanley Cup 3OT thriller gets 4.8 overnight rating for NBC Sports

Wednesday night's triple-overtime thrilling Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals between the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks delivered a solid 4.8 overnight rating for NBC Sports, the network announced Thursday morning.

The Blackhawks won, 4-3, on Andrew Shaw's goal at 12:08 of the third OT.

The 4.8 rating is 100 percent better than last year's Game 1 rating of 2.4 (Los Angeles vs. New Jersey), and the highest since FOX Sports got a 5.2 for Game 1 of the 1997 final (Detroit vs. Philadelphia).

The top five markets last night were Boston (28.1), Chicago (25.1), Providence (18.5), Buffalo (8.5) and Milwaukee (6.1).
