Ten ECAC Hockey players picked in NHL draft; none from RPI and Union

It was a quiet NHL draft Sunday as no current or incoming RPI and Union players were selected.

ECAC Hockey had 10 incoming players drafted. The highest was forward John Hayden of NCAA-champion Yale, who was selected in the third round (74th overall) by the Stanley Cup-champion Chicago Blackhawks.

Two players went in the fourth round. Cornell forward Matt Buckles was picked 98th overall by the Florida Panthers, and the New Jersey Devils selected Brown forward Miles Wood with the 100th overall pick.

In the fifth round, Quinnipiac defenseman Connor Clifton went to the Phoenix Coyotes (133rd overall), and Harvard defenseman Wiley Sherman was picked by the Boston Bruins (150th overall).

A pair of Harvard players were drafted in the sixth round. The Buffalo Sabres picked forward Sean Malone (159th overall), and the Philadelphia Flyers picked goalie Merrick Madsen (162nd overall).

Also drafted in the sixth round was Colgate forward Tim Harrison, who was chosen by the Calgary Flames with the 157th overall pick.

In the seventh round, the Columbus Blue Jackets took Quinnipiac forward Peter Quenneville (195th overall), and the Pittsburgh Penguins picked Clarkson forward Troy Josephs (209th overall).
