Union D Stuart returns to practice, could play Friday
Union senior defenseman Shawn Stuart returned to practice Wednesday, the first time he has been on the ice since suffering an upper-body injury in the first period of the Dutchmen's Jan. 12 game at Quinnipiac.
There is a chance Stuart could be back in the lineup Friday when the 18th-ranked Dutchmen host No. 16 Dartmouth at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Messa Rink. The game will be televised by NBC Sports Network.
"[He's] highly probable," Union coach Rick Bennett said. "Seeing today was his first practice, he wasn't shying away from anything. He competed hard."
Stuart has missed the last four games. He had a streak of 100 consecutive games played before the injury.
"It's definitely frustrating, especially senior year," said Stuart, who has played in 138 career games. "It gives you a different perspective of the game."
