Boston College senior defenseman and Clifton Park native Patch Alber will be out three months after having surgery Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Alber tore the meniscus before Saturday's game against Alabama-Huntsville in the Mariucci Classic at Minnesota. He suffered the injury during the team's soccer warmup.

The surgery was performed today by Dr. Robert Nascimento at St. Elizabeth's Media Center in Brighton, Mass.

Alber, who started his BC career as a walk-on before becoming a scholarship player last season, has three assists in 14 games this season. In 109 career games, Alber has four goals and 25 assists and has been a part of two NCAA championship teams with BC.

Alber could be back at the end of March, just in time for the NCAA tournament. BC is the defending NCAA champion.
