Simpson, Union's leading scorer, out of lineup tonight at Cornell
Union coach Rick Bennett promised lineup changes after Friday's 4-1 ECAC Hockey loss to Colgate, and he followed through.
Wayne Simpson, the Dutchmen's leading scorer, is out of the lineup for tonight's game against Cornell. Simpson's linemate, Daniel Ciampini, is also out. Center Kyle Bodie is the only one of the trio playing. He will have Kevin Sullivan on his left side and Nick Cruice on his right.
Mark Bennett takes Sullivan's spot on the right wing on the line with center Max Novak and left winger Matt Hatch.
Simpson has 13 goals and 16 assists, was a minus-2 in the Colgate game. It will be the first game he has missed in his Union career. Simpson has 53 goals and 55 assists in 151 career games.
On defense, Tim Boyle replaces Sebastian Gingras.
Here is the Union lineup, starting with the forwards (LW-C-RW):
Daniel Carr/Josh Jooris/Matt Wilkins
Matt Hatch/Max Novak/Mark Bennett
Kevin Sullivan/Kyle Bodie/Nick Cruice
Cole Ikkala/David Roy/Sam Coatta
The defensive pairings are:
Mat Bodie/Charlie Vasaturo
Greg Coburn/Shayne Gostisbehere
Ryan Forgaard/Tim Boyle
Troy Grosenick starts in goal.
Unfortunately, I won't be at the game. I will, however, be providing updates at the office on Twitter @slapschotts.
