Quinnipiac goalie Garteig credited with empty-net goal in Saturday's game against Union

There will be a change in scoring on the Quinnipiac goal that Union defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere accidentally put into the net 3:51 into the second period of the Dutchmen's 6-4 ECAC Hockey victory over Quinnipiac.

After a review of the tape by both teams, it was determined that Bobcats goalie Michael Garteig was the last player to touch the puck, so he will be credited with the goal. It was originally credited to forward Matthew Peca.

Here is the play-by-play breakdown:
Quinnipiac's Devon Toews dumps puck the puck 16:44 left. Union players then touch the puck 12 times (David Roy, Jeff Taylor, Roy, Sam Cotta, Roy, and then the delayed penalty called on Toews with 16:31, Cotta with wide shot off Garteig's stick at 16:26, Hatch, Cotta, Roy, Cotta Sebastien Gingras [sends high shot over the net] and then Gostisbehere).

Garteig becomes the second ECACH goalie to be credited with a goal. Cornell's Mitch Gillam shot the puck into an empty net with nine seconds remaining in the game Nov. 26 against Niagara.
